The excess energy of the DC link is dissipated via the braking resistor. The braking resistor is connected to a Braking Module. By positioning the braking resistor outside the cabinet or outside the switchgear room, the heat loss produced can be dissipated. This reduces the level of air conditioning required. For devices in Chassis format, two braking resistors with different rated and peak powers are available. The braking resistor is monitored based on the duty cycle. A temperature switch (NC contact) is also installed, which responds when the permissible temperature is exceeded and can be evaluated via a control system.
